Fellow Kountree Kampinn Midwesterners,

The date and location of the Annual Fall Midwest Reunion has been set. The gathering will be held at Starved Rock State Park in north central Illinois. The dates will be September 2, 3, and 4, 2008. Your hosts, John and Marge Tunnell, Ray and Marilyn Petter and Norm and Alma Dearth will do all we can to make this a great gathering.

Starved Rock State Park has a good campground with electricity (mostly 30 amp) but no individual water. I have included a map of the campground and a Reservation Form. Starved Rock only accepts reservations by mail (no internet or telephone reservations). I spoke to that office this week and was advised they will accept reservations beginning January 2, 2008. They prefer not to have them much before that date.

As in past years, each of us will be responsible for making our own reservations. I recommend making them as quickly as you can, however our midweek dates should not pose too great a problem. I recommend that you print and use the reservation form I have attached. This form will flag that we are a group and wish to be together. I would recommend asking for a specific space number, followed by a second and third choice. That way, if one of us has already been assigned to that number, the reservation person has a fallback to work with. We should reserve spaces numbered 31 through 55. These spaces are the only reservable spaces in the area that is suitable for groups.

For those of you interested in hotel lodging, there are three good choices. They are:

This is in the park and has excellent accommodations. The going rate is approximately $130 but varies by fill rate so the earlier reserved, probably the better the rate.

Grizzly Jack's Grand Bear Resort - (866)739-6735

This is very near the park and also has excellent accommodations. The Resort centers on an indoor water park but has normal hotel type rooms available. The going rate is approximately $130 but varies by fill rate so the earlier reserved, probably the better the rate.

This is a small hotel with nice ambience. The mid week rates are $75.00 so the price is right. It is located in Utica, about 2 - 3 miles from the Starved Rock Campground.

Please confirm to me when you make your campground or hotel reservations so I can have some idea of who is going to join us.
