Unsolicited Email Messages.

DO NOT click on any Link that says things like Please Remove Me – Click Here to be removed from future emails, etc,. Once you click on those links it verifies that your email address is valid and you will continue to remain on the senders active distribution. Just delete it from your inbox.

 

Too Many Windows Open.

Ever have a bunch of Webpages open and want to go back to specific page? Try LC on the little down arrow ▼ to the right of the “Back Button” and it will bring up all of your previously visited pages. If you have a hard time LC on the the ▼ arrow, simply RC on the Back or Forward arrows and select the desired page from the drop down list.

 

Stop Automatic Image Resizing in Internet Explorer.

Stop the automatic image resizing feature when the image is too big to view without using the scroll bar. LC on Tools – Internet Options – Advanced and scroll down to Multimedia and uncheck the Enable Automatic Image Resizing box. Then LC OK.

 

Your System Profile Info:

Ever wonder what your system make up is? Depress and hold the Windows Key and Depress and release the Pause Key – Release both keys. In the first window is a description of your basic hardware configuration.

 

Assign a Desktop Shortcut to a “HotKey”:

If you wish to use a keyboard key combination to open a desktop program RC on the desktop icon – LC on Properties, place the cursor to the right of None in Shortcut Key box. Enter the key combination you want to use. Valid combinations are: Ctrl+Shift, Shift+Alt, & Ctrl+Alt+Shift along with an appropriate character key. Just be careful to make sure your hot-key combination doesn't clash with one already being used by Windows or a windows program.

 

 

Customize Your Start Menu:

You can change the size, number, and type of icons that appears on the Start menu. Right-click the taskbar, select Properties, select the Start Menu tab, and click Customize. Under the General tab you can change the size of the icons, choose how many icons to show, and specify your preferred browser and email program.

You can further customize the Start menu by adding or removing certain options and changing certain behavior. Right-click the taskbar, select Properties, select the Start Menu tab, click Customize, then select the Advanced tab. Under Start menu items, pick which options you want to show in the Start menu, and whether you want them to act as a link, or a menu. For example, a very handy option is to display the Control Panel as a menu. Scroll through the list and customize to your heart's content.

 

Easy Shutdown Of Computer:

You can shut down Windows with a double-click instead of having to navigate the entire Start / Shutdown / Shutdown / OK sequence. Right-click on your desktop and select New / Shortcut. You will see the create Shortcut wizard. In the field labeled Type location of the item enter the following command:

Shutdown -s -t 0

Click Next. Enter a name for the shortcut, e.g. Quick Shutdown. Click Finish. If you want to replace the generic icon for your new shortcut, right-click on it, select Properties, select the Shortcut tab, click Change Icon, and select the desired icon.

 

 

System Configuration Restore:

Log on to Windows as Administrator.

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then

Click System Restore. System Restore starts.

On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.

On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system checkpoint in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next. A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.

On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.

Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page appears.

Click OK.
